Mary Ellen Zuccerella

Mary Ellen Zuccerella – 77 of Greenwich passed away Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018 in her sleep after a long and courageous battle with cancer. Born Oct. 13, 1940, she spent her entire life as a proud Greenwich resident. She was part of the first graduating class of St. Mary’s High School, something she was very proud about.

Mary Ellen worked for D.W. Rogers on Greenwich Avenue as well as Dr. Peter Tortora. The balance of her career was at Politi and Magnifico, where she worked for over 20 years.
She enjoyed sewing, crossword puzzles, and working around the yard. She also loved to travel and her weekly drives to Mohegan with her husband, of 58 years – John.

Family meant everything to her and she loved seeing all her grandchildren gathered around her. She is survived by her husband John; her four children Marylee (Mark), Joseph (LuAnne), John (Laura), and Mark (Jodie); and her seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Lindsay, Mark, Johnny, Sofia, Cooper, and Kasey. She also leaves behind her brother, Edward Neilsen as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to send a special thanks to her caregivers Vira and Lana. Thanks to you, you made what little time our mother had left extremely comfortable and for that we are deeply grateful.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Sept. 15 at 10 a.m., at Sacred Heart Church, Greenwich. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or American Cancer Society.
