The Greenwich Choral Society (GCS) announces auditions for prospective members. Auditions will be conducted on several dates, days and evenings, beginning the week of Sept. 3. Sopranos, altos, basses and, especially, tenors are invited to schedule an audition to be held at the First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich. Those interested may call Bill Fulton at 203-322-2990 or e-mail cbful@snet.net to schedule a date and time.
The Choral Society’s performances this season will begin with the December holiday concerts featuring the Poulenc Gloria, works by Charpentier, Faure, Gounod and Saint Saens in addition to traditional songs and carols. A February concert with The Stamford Symphony will feature the Concert Suite of Gershwin’s Porgy and Bess along with a selection of choruses from beloved Italian operas. An April concert will include Mendelssohn’s Hymn of Praise as well as Ralph Vaughn Williams’ Toward an Unknown Region.
For those with an interest in joining the Greenwich Choral Society, an Open Rehearsal will be held on Sept. 11 at 7:15 p.m., at the First Congregational Church. The Choral Society will be rehearsing music scheduled for the December concerts.
