The Friends and Staff of the Cos Cob Library will sponsor a free lecture titled “Ten Steps to Writing a Successful College Application Essay” on Monday, July 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This event is geared towards students, but it’s also an opportunity for parents to get a handle on what’s in store if they have a child who’s about to apply to college in the fall.
Michele Turk and Daisy Florin of A Bloc of Writers, Inc., a Greenwich-based writing, editing, and tutoring company, will provide guidance and tips about how to: tackle the Common Application essay prompts and various supplemental essays; select appropriate topics and themes; organize and focus the essays; find your voice and particular style; avoid common essay mistakes.
