A 59-year-old Greenwich woman is recovering after being struck by a motor vehicle on Tuesday night in Old Greenwich, according to a press release from the Greenwich Police Department.

Around 7:40 p.m., on Tuesday, the woman was crossing Arcadia Road at its intersection with Sound Beach Avenue when a vehicle struck her, knocking her to the ground. The driver of the vehicle immediately stopped and is cooperating with investigators. The woman suffered “serious” injuries, and was transported by GEMS to a local hospital.

The accident is currently under investigation by the Greenwich Police Department’s Traffic Section. No further information is available at this time.

This is the second incident in Greenwich involving a pedestrian and motor vehicle in the last two months. Back in February, a 70-year-old Greenwich man was killed after he was hit by a car while crossing Milbank Avenue downtown in the early evening hours of Feb. 7.
