Yale Medicine Neurology at Greenwich has opened at 55 Holly Hill Ln. to bring a broader range of neurological subspecialties to surrounding communities at a time of growing demand from an aging population.

“This neurology center with expanded neurological specialties is a collaboration between Greenwich Hospital and Yale Medicine that will make it easier for patients to see a neurologist close to home,” said Norman Roth, the hospital’s president and chief executive officer.

The practice is led by Medical Director Alice Rusk MD, who specializes in movement disorders, and includes Kunal Desai, MD, a neurologist with a subspecialty in neuro muscular disorders.

“We’re building upon the great neurology services that have always been available in Greenwich by bringing more varied subspecialties to the community,” said Dr. Rusk, who is chief of Neurology at Greenwich Hospital and has practiced in Greenwich for 20 years.

Dr. Rusk has seen an increased demand for neurologists with today’s aging population. “There’s been an explosion in the need for neurological services because people are easily living into their 80s and 90s,” she said. “As people age, their nervous system is more likely to develop problems. Many of these problems are treatable. We want to help these individuals to function at their highest possible level.”

Yale Medicine Neurology at Greenwich expects to add subspecialists in memory disorders, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, neuro muscular disorders, headaches and other areas. These neurologists would see patients at the Greenwich office at 55 Holly Hill Ln. and at Long Ridge Medical Center at 260 Long Ridge Rd. in Stamford.
