Jeanie Logan Stern died peacefully with family at her side on Sunday, December 24, 2017 in Reston, Va. She was 90.

Jeanie was a resident of Greenwich for many years.

Jeanie was the daughter of the late Harold Miles Logan and the late Helen Gibbons Logan and grew up in Bridgeport.

Jeanie met her husband Charles Allen Stern at the University of Bridgeport where Charles attended on the G.I. Bill and was a football and basketball star. They married in October of 1949 soon after graduation.

They moved to Ann Arbor, Mich. where Charles began his business career at Kaiser-Frazier Corp. and Jeanie was Assistant to the Director of the Survey Research Center at the University of Michigan, and where their first son, Bradford, was born.  Their next move was to Newtown, where they designed and built their first home and their second son, Dana, was born. Again following Charles’ business career, now with IBM Corp., they moved to Asheville, N.C., and then to Greensboro, N.C., where their third son, Kevin, was born.  They moved to Greenwich in 1959 where their fourth son, Jeffrey, was born.

They were residents of Greenwich for 27 years and made many friends there and during that time moved to another beautiful home that they designed themselves. Jeanie was employed for many years in the Lane, Jacques and Mosher law firm in Greenwich as a paralegal in the office of Daniel W. Moger Jr., Esq.

Upon Charles’ retirement in 1986 from an executive position with CBS Inc., they moved to Chapel Hill, N.C. to fulfill a desire to return to North Carolina, and to start the Lawn Doctor of Chapel Hill lawn service business in accordance with Charles’ lifelong interest in landscaping, gardening and the outdoors.

They were residents of Chapel Hill for 29 years and again made many friends there. They sold the Lawn Doctor business and started full-time retirement being involved in neighborhood and civic organizations as well as traveling to numerous destinations, among them many U.S. National Parks as well as Italy, Panama, Costa Rica, Greece, Turkey and Ireland.

With declining health, they decided to move to Reston, Va. in 2015 to be closer to their son Kevin, his wife Beth, and four growing grandchildren.

Jeanie was a much beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and grandmother who always thought of others before herself, enjoyed hosting family and friends, and was active in her church and community. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all who came to know her.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 27 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 940 Carmichael St., Chapel Hill, N.C. 27514, followed immediately by interment at St. Thomas More.

Jeanie is survived by her husband Charles of Reston, Va., sister Carol Logan Johnson of Greenwich, son Bradford of Georgetown, Texas, son Kevin and wife Beth of Reston, Va., son Jeffrey of Greensboro, N.C., four grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her son Dana in addition to her parents.
