Winston is survived by his brothers, Michael (St. Johnsburg, Vt) and Charles (Bennington, Vt). His sisters, Gloria and Magdalyn, predeceased him. He is survived by his daughter Cynthia (Ridgefield), his son Clifford (Callahan, Fla.), and his grandchildren, Heather (West Haven), Caroline and Cameron (Ridgefield) and Katherine (Redding, Calif.).
Winston attended school in Port Chester High School, graduating in 1942. He proudly served in the Army/Air Force during WWII as a mechanic on B-24 planes in England. Winston married the love of his life Dorothy Dusenbury in 1948. After his service he joined his father working as a butcher at the Putnam Market in Port Chester. They went on to open Armonk Market in Armonk. When the market was sold he designed kitchens but left this profession to help his daughter and son-in-law manage their fish markets. When they sold their fish markets, not one for retirement he became a butcher at Grand Union in Glenville to keep busy.
Winston was a selfless man who always volunteered and helped others. He was a Boy Scout troop leader, an auxiliary police officer and an NRA instructor so people knew the correct way to handle guns. Winston enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
He was an avid reader who loved to read to his grandchildren. Winston was a naturalist and a birdwatcher who shared his love for birds with his grandchildren from the time they could walk. He collected coins and was always giving out the newest ones to coworkers and friends.
He was a people person who lived a rich, full life and will be missed by all.
