GHS Students Surpass Recent Gains on ACT

Greenwich High School’s (GHS) Class of 2017 exceeded the highest ACT composite score in the school’s history, according to the American College Testing program. The school’s average composite score this year was 27.5. The state average was 25.2.

GHS established a new standard in three of the four content areas covered in the exam. The English score was 28 followed closely by reading at 27.7 and the science score of 26.6 – each higher than State averages. Mathematics came in at 27.2 far above the state average of 24.6.

Greenwich High School surpassed every benchmark score on its alignment to college readiness standards.

While ACT is not a required assessment in Connecticut, 279 students participated in last year’s testing. This represents the highest number of students participating in the ACT in at least the last five years.
