Health & Wellness Expo for Older Adults

The 3rd Annual Health and Wellness Expo for Older Adults is planned for Thursday, Oct. 5. It will take place at the Eastern Greenwich Civic Center, 90 Harding Rd., Old Greenwich, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is organized by the Greenwich Commission on Aging, the Greenwich Department of Health and Greenwich Hospital.

Influenza and Adult Vaccination Clinic provided by the Greenwich Department of Health and Blood Pressure and Fasting Cholesterol Screenings compliments of Greenwich Hospital will be provided. Additional offerings include: Postural Assessment, Osteoporosis Screenings, Diabetes and Weight Loss Screenings, Healing Touch Clinic and Wellness Assessment. The Commission on Aging will again host its popular “Medicare in a Minute” information booth. A featured Brain Boosting Team Trivia Event – designed by TrivWorks to engage and entertain all participants is planned from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. A professional TrivWorks emcee will lead the team trivia event. The program will conclude with the announcement of the winning team and presentation of awards. Early morning coffee and snack will be provided and a seated lunch for the first 250 participants will be offered after the TrivWorks Trivia Event.

Participants 65 years of age or older must bring their Medicare Advantage ID Card/Traditional Medicare Part B Card or a fee of $35 (Seasonal); $45 (High Dose); $90 (Pneumovax 23); $180 (Prevnar 13) will be charged for the immunizations. Medicare Advantage Plans Do Not cover pneumonia immunizations received at public clinics. Shingles vaccine will be available, but quantities are limited. The charge for shingles vaccine (for persons 60 years and older) is $215 (cash/check only, credit cards will not be accepted – no insurance billing – receipts available).

As in previous years, the Annual Health & Wellness Expo will provide opportunities for older adults to enhance and maintain their health, view resources from our sponsors and engage in invigorating programs. Lunch will be provided at 12:30 p.m.
