The Pet Pantry Warehouse announces the opening of their sixth location in Riverside. There will be a grand opening celebration Saturday, Sept. 9 at 10 a.m. at the new location at 1191 E. Putnam Ave., in Riverside.
Instead of a traditional ribbon cutting for the Riverside grand opening, local Greenwich Police Department K9 “Kato” will be the designated “ribbon chewer” as he makes his way through a string of sausages draped across the opening of the store.
10% of the pre-tax sales at this new location throughout the weekend will be donated to various charities in support of the people and pets of Houston, Texas in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. In addition, there will be a balloonist, caricature artist, free gift giveaways, as well as retail discounts throughout the weekend.
Founded in downtown Greenwich in 1945, the 72-year old pet supply retailer specializes in pet supplies and foods that focus on the health, wellness and nutritional benefits for pets. The family owned and operated company now has six stores in Fairfield and Westchester Counties. Existing locations include Greenwich, New Canaan, and Wilton, Rye, Larchmont and a seventh slated for Scarsdale, N.Y. with a tentative opening of fourth quarter 2017. The growing trend of pet owners wanting to promote healthy and happier lives for their pets is behind the company’s growing success.
As owner Adam Jacobson explains, “We have and always will be a dedicated local, community-based business. This new store location in Riverside further entrenches us in this wonderful community. We are very grateful to our clients and hope to be around for another 70+ years.”
Unique to Pet Pantry’s newly opened Riverside location is a self-service pet wash. Jacobson said “This is our first pet wash and we plan to add it to our New Canaan store and all future locations.” The pet wash is intended to be a convenience to clients, but will also be ideal as a fundraising opportunity for local schools, animal adoption agencies and other worthy local causes.
