On Wednesday, August 16, a New Jersey man turned himself in to the Greenwich Police on an active warrant for his arrest which stemmed from a fatal car crash in Greenwich on Arch Street back on Nov. 19, 2016, according to a press release from the Greenwich Police Department. The suspect has been charged with manslaughter and assault in the first degree.
At approximately 5:35 p.m., on that November day, the suspect, who was driving a tractor-trailer, failed to stop at the red light at the bottom of the exit 3 Arch St. ramp from I-95. The suspect went across Arch St. with the intention of re-entering I-95 southbound when he struck a passenger car.
Driving the car was Christina Ann Vomoca, 38, of Stamford, Conn., who died as a result of the crash. Maiko Kobayashi, 32, also from Stamford, Conn., was a passenger in the car and sustained serious injuries. Vomoca and Kobayashi were employed at Hopscotch Hair Salon in Greenwich, where they had just left from.
The suspect posted a $100,000 court-set bond; he is scheduled to appear in court on Aug. 30.
