Pace University’s College of Health Professions announced the appointment of Greenwich resident, Keville Frederickson, EdD, RN, FAAN, as the Founding Director of the PhD in Nursing program, which is the only PhD program in the mid-Hudson region. The program launch date is fall 2017.
Frederickson was instrumental in shepherding the program from inception through approval by the New York State Education Department. She will be responsible for complete oversight of the program including recruiting and mentoring incoming students. Frederickson joined the College of Health Professions nearly three years ago, preceded by her position at The Graduate Center, City University of New York, where she was the Executive Officer of the PhD Program in Nursing.
“Dr. Frederickson’s outstanding research trajectory, leadership in professional organizations and proven track record of establishing PhD programs made her the ideal candidate to lead this innovative and collaborative program,” said Harriet R. Feldman, PhD, RN, FAAN, Dean of Pace’s College of Health Professions and the Lienhard School of Nursing.
The PhD in Nursing program is designed to be a research-intensive experience. Program graduates will develop new nursing science, serve as leaders of the profession and educate the next generation of nurses. Students will join faculty to tackle the root causes of health problems identified as the “social determinants of health.” Their research will focus on primary health care, a people centered approach to health that makes prevention as important as the cure.
