Greenwich Library has added two premium services from Naxos, an online music service, to its already extensive digital music resources. Greenwich and Perrot Library card holders can now stream music videos via Naxos Video Library and access sheet music through Naxos Sheet Music Library anytime, anywhere, on virtually any device at no charge.
The Library’s new Naxos Video Library subscription allows patrons to view over 2,750 classical music performances, including opera, ballet, live concerts and documentaries in high quality mode at 2 Mbps. The collection of streaming operas is particularly comprehensive and will please the many opera buffs in the Greenwich community.
After setting up an account, patrons can create custom clips, edit and add them to individual playlists; view subtitles in over five languages; search videos by category, role, composer, artist, production personnel, work, venue or festival; and view the accompanying libretto when available.
Naxos Sheet Music Library enables patrons to search for and view over 35,000 pieces of sheet music which can be printed out once the Naxos Sheet Music Library Viewer software is downloaded. With a vast selection of chamber and solo pieces, the Naxos Sheet Music Library offers the quickest and easiest way to print sheet music from the web.
The new services can be accessed via the Library website at greenwichlibrary.org/music. Remote access for both new services requires a Greenwich or Perrot Library card number.
Existing Library Naxos subscriptions include the Naxos Music Library, with over 130,000 discs of great music spanning medieval to modern – classical, jazz, electronic and world music. From the Library website patrons can also access the Naxos Jazz Library with over 185,000 tracks of top Jazz from 400 labels.
Says David Waring, Peterson Music Librarian, “With the advent of Naxos Video and Naxos Sheet Music libraries, Greenwich Library has substantially expanded the menu of online music resources available to our users. Both are available at the Library and accessible from home and both invite and reward browsing and more targeted searching. In short, NVL and NSML represent a terrific opportunity to expand your musical horizons.”
Naxos of America is the leading independent classical music distributor in the U.S. and Canada; specializing in state-of-the-art physical & digital distribution services, marketing and promotion.
