Eastern Middle School (EMS) hosted its annual Career Day for the eighth grade on May 8. Career Day affords eighth grade students the opportunity to hear and interact with various parents of EMS students regarding their diverse professions.
Speakers included Suha Slim-Younes – plumbing/fire protection engineer; Yvonne Tran – attorney; Jung Yun Wong – acupuncturist; Motoko Aritake-Wild – manager for intergovernmental organization; Lynne Chavez – entrepreneur; Bryan Kelly – orthopedist; Steve Bartels – CEO, Def Jam Recordings; Dr. Dave Kolin – TV and radio veteran; and Martin St. Louis – former NHL player.
The students found the event both informative and inspiring, one that could not have taken place without the EMS PTA, staff and parent volunteers.
