
Ann Gioffre DeCarlo, 79, loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away at her home in Greenwich on March 26, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Port Chester, N.Y., on Jan. 30, 1938 to the late New York State Sen. Anthony B. Gioffre and Louise Giorno Gioffre. She was the cherished wife of Anthony F. DeCarlo, her husband of 58 years.
Mrs. DeCarlo attended the Laboratory Institute of Merchandising and was employed as an administrative assistant at General Foods Corp. With her husband she managed their accounting firm for many years. She was founder and organizer of the Women’s Republican Club of Port Chester and the Town of Rye. She served as Republican leader of the 14th District and was also a member of many civic and political organizations in the Town of Rye and County of Westchester.
Later in life she enjoyed memberships in the Women’s Club of Greenwich and Greenwich Seniors, serving on the board of both organizations. She served as a volunteer at Greenwich Hospital for many years and the St. Paul’s Women’s Guild.
Mrs. DeCarlo’s greatest joy in life was her family. In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her four daughters: Dawn Tanner and her husband, Richard ,of Newtown, Conn.; Louise Gorski and her husband, Robert, of Greenwich; Christine Shanahan and her husband, Brendan, of Weston; and Toni-Ann Dziubak and her husband, Russell, of Myrtle Beach, S.C.
She is also survived by her nine loving grandchildren: Jillian Tanner Philbin and husband Andrew; Kristen and Caroline Tanner; Lauren and Jessica Gorski; Megan and Brendan Shanahan and Alison and Elizabeth Dziubak.
In addition to her husband, children and grandchildren she is survived by her three brothers and their families: Bruno and Snowy Gioffre; Anthony and Noell Gioffre; and Donald and Renee Gioffre.
The family is grateful for the support, care and compassion of the doctors, care providers and loving friends who cared for and shared in Ann’s life.
To honor Ann’s life, family and friends will gather on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Coxe & Graziano Funeral Home, 134 Hamilton Ave., Greenwich, 203-869-5968.
A Funeral Mass will take place Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s R.C. Church in Greenwich, followed by interment at ST. Mary’s Cemetery.
