Greenwich Community Gardens announces Garden Plot Sign-up Days, Saturday, March 25, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sunday, March 26, from 1 to 4 p.m. If you are a new or returning gardener interested in gardening at the award-winning Armstrong Court Community Garden or the Bible Street Community Garden, come to the Cos Cob Firehouse, 2nd floor, at 200 E. Putnam Ave., to reserve your garden plot for 2017.
Though most of the 140 plots are raised one foot off the ground, there are a dozen “Universal Access” plots at the Bible Street Garden that are table top height for those with limited mobility. Both community gardens are outfitted with long and short-handled tools, wheelbarrows, composting and irrigation. The beds are filled with organic soil and organic compost. Gardeners are required to use non-GMO organic seeds, some of which will be available for a nominal donation at both sign-up days. T-shirts bearing the Greenwich Community Garden logo will also be available for a $10 donation.
