On Thursday, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m., The Nantucket Project (TNP) Library welcomes Liz Murray for “My Journey from Homeless to Harvard,” where she will share her remarkable story and introduce The Arthur Project, the nonprofit she co-founded to bring mentoring to underserved youth. Murray will uncover the power each of us has to transform our own life and the lives of others.

At 15, Murray was homeless. The child of drug-addicted parents, she slept in subway stations and ate out of dumpsters, and that could have been her whole story – if it weren’t for mentors. Thanks to a few caring teachers and role models (and her own hard work) Liz is now a Harvard graduate, a New York Times best-selling author, and an advocate for at-risk youth.

Murray is the author of the international bestseller, Breaking Night: My Journey from Homeless to Harvard, which was published in twelve countries and made into an Emmy-nominated Lifetime original film. Murray is the recipient of Oprah Winfrey’s “Chutzpah” award and the White House Project’s “Role Model Award.” She is the co-founder of The Arthur Project, a NYC-based nonprofit that brings life-changing mentoring relationships into the lives of the nation’s most underserved youth.

The Nantucket Project (TNP) Library is located at 123 Mason St. The program is free but RSVP is required and can be made at nantucketproject.com/upcoming-events/homeless-to-harvard
