On Dec. 22 the YWCA Greenwich in partnership with Round Hill Community Church hosted one “Gigantic Playdate” at the Round Hill Community House.
For many parents, finding activities for their children during winter breaks is a challenge. Not all parents, for example, can take off for the entire holiday school break at the end of December. Jenny Byxbee, Director of Children’s Ministries at Round Hill Community Church, saw an opportunity to partner with the YWCA Greenwich to bring kids together for a fun event. “As luck would have it, my children love the YWCA vacation program. So I reached out to the YWCA to see if they were interested in partnering with us to host ONE GIGANTIC PLAYDATE.”
YWCA Greenwich has an extensive preschool, after-school and vacation camp program, and they were more than willing to share their expertise with Round Hill Church for their half day program.
“Community partnerships are an essential part of our mission. It is a treat to work with friends and agencies that have the same care and commitment we do for local children and families,” said Michelle Pennino, YWCA Greenwich Director of Member Services.
Arts and crafts, scavenger hunts, and other activities kept everyone busy, while giving parents peace of mind that their children were being cared for in a safe environment and having fun together. It was an experiment that Round Hill Community Church hopes to expand on in the future with community partners.
