The Off Sounders, Greenwich’s men’s a cappella singing group, will host a concert titled “Good Old A Capella” planned for Saturday, Nov. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Riverside Yacht Club, featuring two singing groups from Colgate University: The Colgate 13, one of the country’s leading collegiate male a cappella groups; and The Resolutions, a co-ed group that originated almost 25 years ago. Tickets are $20 and are available from any member of the Off Sounders, or at the door (depending on availability). Please contact Mark De Riemer at inbox13@gmail.com to inquire about purchasing tickets.
The Off Sounders was founded in 1956 by men nostalgic for the close harmony singing of their college performing days. The group rehearses weekly during the school year at the First Congregational Church in Old Greenwich. They regularly participate in Spring Sing, an annual gathering of American A Cappella Alliance member groups, which takes place in different locations around the country. The Off Sounders also perform at local country clubs, business functions, private parties, churches, hospitals, nursing homes, taverns, holiday gatherings and charitable events. The Off Sounders’ repertoire includes traditional, contemporary, spiritual, classical, jazz, pop, show tunes, good old rock and roll, country western and seasonal music.
The Riverside Yacht Club is located at 102 Club Rd. For more information about the Off Sounders, please contact Omar Yacoub (ony@absinv.com) or Buzz Moore (buzz471@gmail.com).
