Tomorrow, Friday, Sept. 23, U.S. Senator Chris Murphy (D-Conn.) and U.S. Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) will join the Greenwich Conservation Commission, the Greenwich Shellfish Coalition and other environmental advocates to celebrate the U.S. Senate’s passage of Long Island Sound Restoration and Stewardship Act, a bill that supports research, pollution reduction, and conservation efforts for Long Island Sound. Murphy and Blumenthal will also receive an update from the Coalition about their efforts to use shellfish to clean the Sound. Shellfish is a proven way to reduce toxic carbon and nitrogen levels in water caused by sewage and fertilizer run off.
