At the recent Greenwich Emergency Medical Service (GEMS) annual meeting, held at the Indian Harbor Yacht Club, Craig Jones and Jessica Reid became the newest members of the GEMS Board of Directors. Mr. Jones and Mrs. Reid are both Riverside residents, and have backgrounds in non-profit fundraising and non-profit marketing respectively. “This year is a particularly exciting time to support GEMS as it celebrates its 30th Anniversary. I can’t think of a better organization in our community to give back to,” said Mr. Jones. “For three decades GEMS has been providing the highest level of pre-hospital emergency care to the Town of Greenwich. GEMS is noted for its exceptionally low emergency response times and its use of cutting edge technology. As a result, GEMS has saved many lives.”
Greenwich Emergency Medical Service, along with the Town’s Police and Fire Departments, provides emergency services to the Town of Greenwich. Unlike Police and Fire, GEMS is a not-for-profit organization, providing services pursuant to a contract with the Town. GEMS operates 24/7 out of four stations with seven state-of-the-art ambulances and has responded to more than 150,000 911 calls over the last three decades. The organization currently raises the funds for all of its capital expenditures through contributions from the Greenwich community. GEMS’ “margin of excellence” depends on the continued generosity of the people it serves.
