Column: Wealth Management Questions? Send Them Here

By Rob Longsworth
Sentinel Business Columnist

With this column I want to deviate from the discussion of wealth management to introduce myself and provide some background on how I became a Sentinel columnist. I also want to open a dialogue with you, the reader, about those wealth management topics that most affect you.

So, who am I and how did I find this great gig writing for the Sentinel? Without going too far back, I grew up in Denver, Colo., went to college in Massachusetts, and then lived in New York City for about 15 years, much of that time spent working on and around Wall Street. I met my wife, Katherine, there in business school, and we married two falls ago.

Although we both loved our time in the city, we had befriended a number of Greenwich residents and always loved visiting them here, with its natural beauty and small-town feel coupled with a great energy. We wanted to be a part of a community that shared our values of family, hard work and play, and love of the outdoors: I am an avid fly fisherman and Katherine is a competitive sailor. Moving here was therefore an easy decision, and we are thrilled to have found such a great place to call home and raise our family.

While I am a new addition to both my firm and the Sentinel’s slate of columnists, both organizations were founded and are managed by longtime town residents who care deeply for the town’s well being and that of its citizens.

The upshot is that this column is meant to focus on those wealth management topics that most matter to you. Wealth management encompasses a wide variety of disciplines, including investing; wills, trusts, and estates; real estate; tax considerations; and philanthropy, among others. And by nature, it is also inherently personal. So, what doesn’t make sense, what do you find curious or confusing, what keeps you up at night?  All questions will be kept anonymous, so please don’t be shy. Let me know what you want to know.
