Town to honor beach park pass for parking until July 11

It has been the annual practice of the Department of Parks and Recreation to issue Vehicle Parking Stickers to Town residents whose automobiles are registered with the Town of Greenwich. These stickers are valid for the entire season and are designed to allow vehicle entry to town beaches for those residents who also present a valid seasonal Beach/Park Pass at beach entrances.

In terms of process, the source file of the Town of Greenwich registered automobiles originates at The Department of Motor Vehicles which has publicized internal issues resulting from a new software system culminating in a delay in its availability.

Upon receipt of this file, the Department of Parks and Recreation was able to issue and mail over 39,000 seasonal Vehicle Parking Stickers on April 29.

Since this mailing, the Department has experienced a level of resident queries and issues beyond historical experience. Many of these issues concern residents “not receiving” their stickers. The Department has focused on responding thus far by reprinting and mailing over 7,000 additional seasonal Vehicle Parking Stickers.

While the Department continues to investigate this matter, it has been decided to allow vehicle access to town beaches for those residents with a valid Beach/Park Pass effective immediately through Monday, July 11.
