William Raveis Real Estate continues to make strides in cancer research as it continues to gain support for its upcoming second annual Ride + Walk, which will be held in Massachusetts on Saturday, Oct. 1 at 8 a.m. at Derby Academy in Hingham, and in Connecticut on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 8 a.m. at Calf Pasture Beach in Norwalk. The fundraising event offers a 25-mile ride, 12-mile ride, and a 5-mile walk at both venues. A 100-yard dash is available for children, as well. Additionally, participants will be able to enjoy festivities such as face painting, food, music, and a raffle.

All proceeds from the William Raveis Ride + Walk events will go to the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation, which actively seeks emerging scientists with the potential to revolutionize the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of every type of cancer. In the inaugural year of the events in 2015, the fund donated a total of $500,000 to the emerging scientists at Damon Runyon. With this money, Damon Runyon was able to create four-year research grants for two very deserving scientists. These grants have been named The William Raveis Charitable Fund Fellowships. The research awards were granted to Aaron Viny, MD of Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Yi Yin, PhD of Harvard University.

The Raveis Rides Greenwich Team is hosting a series of community events prior to the Ride + Walk to gain participants, sponsors, and to jumpstart fundraising efforts. The first event is a shopping night on June 16 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lily Shoes & Accessories located at 250 Sound Beach Avenue in Old Greenwich. Complimentary wine will be provided by Old Greenwich Fine Wines, and a coupon for the Beach House Café located at 195 Sound Beach Avenue will be given when registering for the Ride + Walk at Lily. 15% of all sales are donated to the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation.

“Every one of our lives has been affected by cancer in one way or another,” stated Bill Raveis, Chairman and CEO of William Raveis Real Estate. The William Raveis Charitable Fund and the Damon Runyon Cancer Foundation are looking to members of our community to come together for the William Raveis Ride + Walk by registering, sponsoring, volunteering, or donating to the event in a collective effort to accelerate breakthroughs of cancer research.
