GHS Students Win Bruce Museum’s Science Fair

GHS students Connor Li, Henry Dowling and Sophia Chow won top honors in the Bruce Museum’s “Phenomenon: Science Innovation Fair.” Henry Dowling, took first prize for “Delivery of Docetaxel Via a Modified PEGylated Graphene Oxide Carrier to Inhibit Growth of Prostate Cancer Stem Cells.” Connor Li, earned second prize for his project on “Fabrication of a Magnetically Vertical-Aligned Boron Nitride Nanotube Membrane in a Lyotropic Precursor for Salinity Gradient Power.” And Sophia Chow, was tapped for “People’s Choice Award” with PDE-4 Inhibitor-Assisted Suppression of Borrelia Biofilm Growth for Treatment of Chronic Lyme.

Olivia Hallisey of Greenwich High School gave the keynote address and was honored as 2016 Phenomenal Young Scientist during the awards ceremony on June 3.

Thirteen students from Greenwich High School competed in the fair, discussing their posters on independent science research projects with judges and the public. The students included Alex Araki, Sophia Chow, Henry Dowling, Takema Kajita, Connor Li, Dante Minichetti, Sanju Satish, Rahul Subramaniam, Agustina Stefani, Derek Woo, Michelle Woo, William Yin, and Madeleine Zhou.
