Scouts-Flags-FIOn a gorgeous late spring Wednesday afternoon, the Greenwich Boy Scouts, along with volunteers from the Greenwich Fire Department and the Greenwich American Legion, planted American flags on the graves of military veterans in both Putnam Cemetery and St. Mary’s Cemetery. Throughout the weekend, parades all over town will honor this country and the brave men and women who serve it. On Sunday, the Byram Veteran’s Association will host a parade in honor of all who have died serving this country. All veterans, civic organizations, schools and groups can march. The parade will be in downtown Byram and will kick off at 2 p.m. Later in the day, another parade will take place, as the Glenville Memorial Day Parade gets underway at 5 p.m. The parade starts at Walker Court and after the parade there will be a brief ceremony and wreath laying at the Veterans Monument adjacent to the fire house. On Monday, the Sound Beach Volunteer Fire Department Memorial Day Parade, which starts on Sound Beach Avenue at Shore Acre Drive, will get underway at 10 a.m. and will be followed by Binney Park Services in Old Greenwich.
