

The Greenwich High School softball team got back to its winning ways Wednesday afternoon by upending Bridgeport Central 9-7.
Big Red did most of its damage early, scoring twice in the first inning and three times in the second frame. GHS also plated three runs in the fourth inning and one more run in the sixth.
Central made a game of this midway through the contest. After scoring twice in the first inning, the Hilltoppers netted for runs in the fourth and added one more in the fifth inning.
Several Cardinals had standout performances. Sami Scordo finished 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while Julia Greco and Kelly Brogan went 2-for-4 with two runs batted in each. Katelyn Grimes also pitched in by going 2-for-4.
Greenwich used two pitchers to gain the victory. Both Sophia Prieto and Julie Gambino went three-and-a-half innings. Prieto took home five strikeouts and walked eight batters, while Gambino ended the day with five walks and two strikeouts.
