The Greenwich Alternative High School (GAHS) administration was alerted this morning—May 3—to an unattended bag at its Riverside location. The two students who reported the bag said they were worried that it contained a bomb.

After the building was evacuated and police and fire personnel investigated, the bag was identified as a student’s bag containing school supplies, according to Kim Eves, director of communication for Greenwich Public Schools.

Police then learned that the two students, both males under the age of 18, had alerted the school staff to the suspicious bag as a prank. Both have been charged with breach of peace.
