

Greenwich-based Spirit All-Stars Too, Youth 1 Malachites, won a bid to compete at the prestigious Varsity All-Star’s D2 Summit Inaugural Cheerleading Competition in Tampa, Fla.
The competition will take place April 30 to May 1.
This bid was awarded at the Cheersport Worcester Grand Championship in Worcester, Mass. on March 20, where the Malachites placed second in their division to clinch the bid out of 20 youth teams of all levels.
The Malachites are made up of 12 female athletes from New York and Connecticut ranging in ages from seven to 11, who together worked very hard to overcome many obstacles to reach their ultimate goal the D2 Summit.
Spirit Zone Too Owner and director Anne Aguiar-Asta addressed the gyms first ever Summit bound team,
“I am so incredibly proud of you and all of your hard work.,” said Spirit Zone Too Owner and Director Anne Aguiar-Asta as she addressed the gym’s first-ever Summit-bound team. “You never lost sight of your goals, you have overcome so much…You kept your eyes on the prize. Hearing your name called as the firs- ever team from my gym going to the first ever D2 Summit, is something I will never forget for as long I live and breathe. It was priceless. Tampa here we come.”
Along the way the Malachites have celebrated many more victories, including recently being named D2 National Champion at Spirit Festival in Hartford earlier in March. This year, the Malachites took one fourth place finish, two second place finishes, two gold medals and two national titles.
The Malachites are looking forward to their upcoming competition’s which includes the Queen of Nile in Baltimore, Md. next weekend, Spirit Limited-Brentwood, N.Y. on April 16, the D2 Summit in Tampa and ending their season at the U.S. Finals in Providence, R.I. the first weekend in May.
