Greenwich High Ski Team Starts Season With Solid Race

The Greenwich High School boys and girls ski team finally got the chance to start its season, and did so in solid fashion Thursday afternoon. The girls team went 4-1 on the day with an overall time of 330.15 and the boys squad took a 3-2 record with an overall time of 327.65.

On the girls side, the upended Joel Barlow, Guilford, Hand and Westbrook and only lost by less than a second to Fairfield (329.65).

New team members Brooke Moran, Tori Glaser and Martine Fierro all placed in the top 20, as Moran took sixth, Glaser finished seventh and Fierro netted 12th.

Overall the team was led by Gabi Bastek, who returned this year and came in fifth.

The boys team beat Guilford, Daniel Hand and New Canaan high schools and lost to Joel Barlow and Fairfield.

Senior Will Sisca took home the bronze, while junior Andrew Desino was seventh and newcomer Christian Bastek was 10th.
