‘Arch Street Speaks’ Discusses Teen Substance Abuse
Arch Street will feature a professional panel discussion on “How to Talk to Teens About Drinking & Drugs” as part of its upcoming “Arch Street Speaks” speaker series. The session will be held at the teen center on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 9 a.m.
Parents are invited for a special opportunity to be part of the discussion with Dr. Frank Batolomeo, director of Behavioral Health Services at Southfield Center; Dr. Jeremy Barowsky, director of Addiction Medicine at Greenwich Hospital and Jeff DeTeso, certified School Psychologist at Greenwich High School. These professionals will help parents recognize the signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol use, trends in Fairfield County, and strategies to talk to their teens about making smart choices.
“It’s an unfortunate reality that so many teens are using drugs and alcohol,” said Kyle Silver, executive director of Arch Street. “Whether it’s due to peer pressure, curiosity, addiction or another reason, we’re hopeful that sparking a dialogue about drinking and drugs may help parents have a positive impact on their children’s decisions.”
