The Scots celebrate the birthday of their beloved national poet Robert Burns, best known in the U.S. for writing Auld Lang Syne, with a Burns Supper. Stasha Healy, a Greenwich resident and University of Edinburgh, Scotland alumni decided to organize a Burns Supper in Greenwich with the help of Kia Heavey.
The event will take place on Saturday, Jan. 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus, 37 West Putnam Avenue. Burns Supper is an evening to gather with friends old and new, to pay tribute to Robert Burns with performances of his songs, readings of his poetry, and toasts.
Tickets are $55. A buffet dinner will include traditional Scottish fare like haggis, neeps (turnips), and tatties (mashed potatoes). Hors d’oeuvres, dessert, coffee, and a whisky toast are also included in the price. A full cash bar will be available as well.
