Local Scouts were joined by U.S. Naval Academy cadets Susan and Jane Wissmann at Seton Scout Reservation on Nov. 24. The event allowed Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts to learn about the challenges and rewards of attending a service academy. Approximately 25 Scouts and parents attended the presentation followed by a Q & A session.
Jane Wissmann and her sister Susan are both senior midshipmen at the U.S. Naval Academy. They graduated from Greenwich High School with the Class of 2012 and were involved in Girl Scouting and Venture Scouting in Greenwich. During the summers of 2014 and 2015, Jane was a Ranger at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico.
The Wissmanns will graduate in May of 2016 as commissioned officers into the United States Navy. They are Aerospace Engineering and Mechanical Engineering majors respectively and both play on the Women’s Club Hockey Team for Navy.
