Since 1966 First Congregational Church has presented Part I of Handel’s Messiah, the Christmas portion, concluding with the Hallelujah chorus. The First Church Festival Chorus is accompanied by a twenty-piece chamber orchestra and professional soloists.

All singers are invited to join The First Church Festival Chorus for the 49th annual Messiah concert. There is only one choir rehearsal on Monday, Dec. 7 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the church sanctuary. The dress rehearsal with orchestra is on Wednesday, Dec. 9 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Singers will use the scores provided by the church, and there is a refundable deposit of $20. There are no auditions and everyone is welcome.

The 2015 performance will take place on Sunday, Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. Soloists for this year will be soprano Mary Ellen Callahan, mezzo soprano Abby Powell, tenor Brian Giebler, and bass Thomas Woodman, all under the direction of Dr. Craig Scott Symons, Director of Music/Organist at First Church.
