Obituary: Kathleen Dorothy O’Connor

Kathleen Dorothy O’Connor died on Nov. 5, 2015 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She was 87 years old.

She was born on July 8, 1928 in Astoria, Queens, to the late Walter O’Rourke and Catherine Healy O’Rourke. She was predeceased by her husband, Eamon O’Connor, and her two sisters, Margaret “Peggy” Marchatelli and Helen “Ducky” Barbarito. She is survived by her brother, Walter O’Rourke, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., her son, Kevin O’Connor, his wife Brynn, and granddaughter, Maura “Molly” O’Connor.

Dot began her career at McGraw-Hill Publishing in New York, where she met the love of her life, Eamon. After their marriage in 1950, she worked for Grey Advertising in New York, and was involved with the early days of TV advertising.

After moving to Greenwich in the late 50’s, she worked for Ficker and North Publishing in Old Greenwich, and finished her career working at Cos Cob School for 20 years as administrative assistant to the principal.

A memorial Mass will be held at Saint Mary Church on Greenwich Avenue on Saturday, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her name to The Boys & Girls Club of Greenwich.
