There’s a bit of a makeover going on in this bedroom. This is the room of Brady Zeller, a third grader at Cos Cob School. Art from the Heart is redoing the room in order to bring some positivity to this boy who is currently fighting a rare cancer.
“We go into children’s home’s who are suffering from cancer and we do a bedroom redo. It can be anything they want, very imaginative,” said Karen Morgenbesser, the Director of Art From the Heart.
“It’s really cool and it’s a good activity. It’s awesome,” said Brady.
This room makeover is a two for one- Brady shares his bedroom with his twin brother Colin so both boys will get something special.
“We built them headboards with bulletin boards attached. We painted the room green and blue. We are doing a theme of the Nationals baseball tam for Colin, and Coke for Brady,” said Morgenbesser.
“It’s tasty,” siad Brady.
And the littlest Zeller won’t be forgotten about. Brady’s six year old brother will also get a fresh paint job in his bedroom. This work is done by youth volunteers mostly from Greenwich High School.
“They get community service hours, but they really like doing it. Once they do a room, they come back to do another one,” said Morgenbesser.
Art from the Heart was started 10 years ago and the organization has redone about 30 rooms in the Greenwich area.
Be sure to catch Brady’s reaction to his new room in the November 13th issue of the Greenwich Sentinel.
