
Lawrence J. Pugliese, of Greenwich, died on Saturday, Sept. 12. He was 86 years old.
Born to James and Louise (DeBlase) Pugliese, Lawrence was a proud native of Chickahominy. An avid baseball player, Lawrence played minor league ball before serving his country honorably as a United States Marine during the Korean conflict.
Later he worked as a contractor and was heavily involved in community. He served on the Board of Education for New Lebanon School, president of St. Roch’s Home School Association, vice president of UNIC, and was a member of the RTM, the Architectural Review Board, and Parks and Recreation.
Lawrence was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Greenwich Old Timers. He was the founder of the “Do Sports Not Drugs” campaign to keep youth away from drugs.
Lawrence is survived by his beloved wife, Rose Marie (Petruccelli), his sons, Lawrence J. Jr., Gregory D. (Maria), and James (Angelica); and his daughter, Marcie DeBardeleben (Charlie). He is also survived by his nine cherished grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Lawrence is the brother of Eleanor Valmis and the late William Pugliese, Charles Pugliese, Sarah Grandison, Rose Fallanca, Lorenza Santamauro and Gloria Farina.
