Greenwich High School officials said despite school being reopened today after a hot water tank leak yesterday that forced school to be cancelled, science classrooms are still unusable.
“Until we have permission to open the wing, all science classes are meeting in the gym. The students are sitting on the floor with their teachers and teachers are conducting classes as well as possible,” said Kim Eves, the Director of Communication of Greenwich Public Schools. ” Some teachers are taking their classes to open computer labs, some are outside in the shade, some are conducting class in the Student Center, and some are remaining in the gym.”
Eves said the hot water leak caused electrical damage to the sewage pumping system, causing the bathrooms to be non-functional. Once the bathrooms are in working condition, the science wing can reopen.
Officials said there is no danger to the students or the staff of Greenwich High School.
