It is never too early to start saving and there’s no better way for kids to begin their financial journey than with a strong savings program. The vision of Frank J. Gaudio, President & CEO of The First Bank of Greenwich, Start2Save was launched January 2012, with the enthusiastic support of the Cos Cob Elementary School principal and PTA.  He explained,” the program was designed as a fundraiser for the elementary school PTA’s and we urge kids to consider saving in equal thirds of: Saving, Sharing & Spending.

Since the launch, many young savers venture into the bank to open accounts with their parents. At the bank they find a Kid’s Teller Window with steps and the S2S Prize Wheel loaded with giveaways generously donated by local merchants, thus uniquely tying together the schools, PTA and merchants. Upon enrolling, each child receives an eco-friendly paper bank, quarter card & passbook. Their first/initial deposit of $ 5.00 is matched by the bank and an additional $ 5.00 is donated to that child’s school PTA. Current participating schools are: Cos Cob, Hamilton Avenue, North Mianus & Parkway.

Local merchants include: Ann’s Hobby Shop, Cardillo’s Deli Plus, Caren’s Cos Cobber, Chicken Joe’s, Corbo’s Corner Deli, Drawing Room, Fitness Edge, Joey B’s Famous Chili Hub, Little Pub, Party Paper & Things, Pizza Post, Pomodoro Pizzeria & Trattoria, Salon 221, Stamford Pizza, Sweet Lisa’s, Upper Crust Bagel & Zody’s 19th Hole.

S2S is at the heart of The First Bank’s mission to support the local community. The bank’s caring team, most of who grew up or live in the neighborhood, are eager to shower kids, parents and grandparents with an exceptional personal experience.
