Massive Tree on Benjamin St. in Old Greenwich Falls, Strikes Man

Friday afternoon at about 1:15 p.m., Greenwich first responders were dispatched to Benjamin Street in Old Greenwich on a report of a massive tree falling and striking a man.

Upon arrival, the Greenwich Fire Department removed the male patient from underneath the large three and Greenwich Emergency Medical Service paramedics began medical aid.

The patient is a plumbing contractor from Milford, who had been preparing to get in his vehicle when the tree fell on him.

The patient was transported from the scene to Stamford Hospital with serious injuries. Several vehicles were also damaged by the tree.

The Greenwich Tree Department is on standby to remove the tree which has closed off Benjamin Street.

The Greenwich Police Department is collaborating with the Greenwich Tree Department to determine all the facts and circumstances surrounding this incident.
