Letter: Board of Education Race

lettertotheeditor-fi

To the Editor,

We are fortunate to have a competitive election for the Board of Education (BOE). Even in a race where every candidate is qualified and unique, Jennifer Dayton stands out. She has given many years of public service to Greenwich outside of education including the RTM, Community Development Block Grants, United Way investments and Greenwich Scouting. In each contribution, she has made the community a better place. She is running for a second term on the BOE to create meaningful pathways for students from entry to exit to ensure all students are well prepared for college and careers. Jennifer recognizes it is beneficial to deepen the involvement of the greater community in the public schools, including not-for-profits as well as businesses. Jennifer proposes high school apprenticeships and early college experiences for students entering the workforce upon graduation and advocates for collaboration of Greenwich preschools on school readiness. Jennifer’s leadership as vice chair of the BOE and her advocacy position on the Connecticut Association of Boards of Education show that she has a wide range of experience that will serve the town well. I enthusiastically support Jennifer Dayton’s re-election.
