The Rummage Room will hold its 51st Grand Reopening Sale on Monday, Aug. 24 at 10 a.m. The sale will continue all week, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday. During the month of August, the store has been cleaned and restocked with all ‘new’ quality merchandise.
The Rummage Room, which celebrated 50 years of donating to women’s and children’s organizations last year, began in 1964 as an annual rummage sale held at The First Congregational Church of Greenwich. This event became so successful that it was transformed into a business housed in a storefront at 191 Sound Beach Avenue in Old Greenwich and dubbed “the best little shop in town!”
Today, still operated by the Women’s Fellowship of the church, The Rummage Room is a great place to find a bargain, donate your new or gently used items and/or make a tax-deductible donation. Over these past 51 years, The Rummage Room has been responsible for contributing well over $4 million to local, national and international benevolent organizations focused on women, children and families.
There will be an Open House Reception on Friday, Aug. 28 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. to honor Manager, Maria Drieghe, who is retiring after 20 years.
