The National Weather Service has issued a flood advisory for Southern Fairfield County until 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

The NWS is reporting rainfall of up to one inch per hour that may result in minor flooding of urban areas including highways, streets, and underpasses.

“Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the roadway,” said the NWS. “Flood waters are usually deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful enough to sweep vehicles off the road.”
