The American Red Cross program Safety Town is back in Greenwich for
the next four weeks.

“Safety Town is a camp for four and five year olds. It teaches them
basic safety skills before they go off to kindergarten,” said instructor
Francesca Libassi.

The program teaches kids basic safety skills- such as stranger danger,
stop, drop, and roll, and helps them become familiar with first responders.

“If there ever is a fire in their house, they learn not to be afraid of the
ambulance or fire fighters. It’s helpful when they grow up,” said Libassi.

During the ambulance visit, campers get their heart rates checked, try on
casts, and explore the ambulance. They also learn even more skills inside a
real Safety Town.

“We ride around Safety Town on their bikes. They learn how to cross the
street,” said Libassi.

The children of Safety Town get to keep their personally fitted bike helmets.
