Special Education Legal Fund Resource Fair is October 1

The Special Education Legal Fund (S.E.L.F.) and the Stamford J.C.C. will host their first resource fair for families and community members for special education children on Sunday, October 1, from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m. at the Stamford J.C.C. The resource fair is an opportunity for parents with special needs children or children in special education to gather and learn more about area resources for their children, such as schools, therapists, providers, agencies, advocates, attorneys, advisors, and nonprofit organizations.

Representatives will be on hand to engage with students and their families. The resource fair is free for attendees with registration: https://bit.ly/SELFResourceFair

Core to its mission to provide knowledge, resources, and support to under-resourced families to successfully advocate for their children, the resource fair is another example of S.E.L.F.’s commitment to empowering students and their families. “We are pleased to partner with the Stamford J.C.C. and Jumpstart to provide this informative community-building event to support transformative educational experiences for students,” said Christine Lai, Co-Founder and Executive Director of S.E.L.F.

Stamford J.C.C.’s JumpStart will provide a sensory room for children with parental supervision. Refreshments will also be available for purchase at the cafe. Stamford Magazine/Moffly Media is the media sponsor.

S.E.L.F. helps economically challenged families of children with learning disabilities to navigate the special education system and provides grants of up to $6,000 per child for legal representation to help families achieve better learning and development outcomes.
