Greenwich glass artist David Licata announced that he will host a live glass art making demonstration open to the public and for all ages at the Greenwich Arts Council’s Bendheim Gallery at 299 Greenwich Avenue, on Thursday, March 9 from 6:00-8:00pm. Admission is free, and the live demonstration will be conducted in the gallery which houses his current solo art exhibition of a spectacular vast array of 33 one-of-a-kind glass artworks of varying scales for sale. On sale, too, are 60+ pieces of handmade glass jewelry by Licata.
Originally from White Plains, New York, Licata has 20 years of glass working experience and has exhibited in shows and galleries around the world including SOFA New York, SOFA Chicago, Kenise Barnes Fine Art, Glass Weekend at Wheaton Arts, Talente 09 in Munich, Habatat Gallery, Glass Art Society’s Glass Fashion Show in Venice, and many more. He is a graduate of the Cranbrook Academy of Art where he received an MFA in Metalsmithing and of SUNY New Paltz where he received a BFA in Sculpture and Art Education.
“To say that David’s work is one-of-a-kind would truly be an understatement. Even within the glass art making world, there are few who have mastered and exhibited his exquisite techniques which are equally stunning visually and complex in their engineering and design,” said Greenwich Arts Council Executive Director Tatiana Mori. “We’re thrilled to showcase the work within our community and look forward to welcoming everyone to his exciting demonstration on March 9th.”

Licata’s exhibit at the Greenwich Arts Council opened Sunday February 5th and runs through Friday March 10. The exhibit is open to the public weekdays 10am-4pm and weekends 12pm-4pm. Admission is free.
