Irene Slusarz

Irene Rita Slusarz passed away December 11 at the age of 94.

She was born October 19, 1928, in Greenwich, CT of which she was a lifelong resident. She attended St. Mary’s grammar school, and Greenwich High School. Irene was predeceased by her parents Ellen McGovern McTeigue and Philip McTeigue, her husband Stanley S. Slusarz, her brother Patrick Joseph McTeigue, and her sister Mary Ellen Wymms, as well as her son Kevin S. Slusarz.

Irene was employed as a telephone operator for New York Telephone, and also held other clerical positions. Irene also volunteered for the American Red Cross.

Irene was an active member of the Stamford Order of the Ancient Hibernians. She enjoyed her many trips to Ireland, as well as listening to her beloved Irish music, and the WGCH Irish hour radio program.

Irene was the proud, and devoted mother of five beautiful children Eileen, Joanie, Maureen, Sheila, and Kevin. She will always be remembered for her beautiful smile.

She leaves behind her daughter’s Eileen (Donald) Varian, Joanie (John) Giammarino, Maureen (Jeffrey) Hoffkins, and Sheila Slusarz. Irene also leaves behind three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and nieces, and nephews.

Mom, we love you. Rest in peace until we meet again, may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

Burial will be private. There will be no calling hours. Irene will be interred at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Greenwich, CT.
