Letter: Rachel Khanna has a Plan for Economic Growth

To the Editor,

I hope you will cast your vote in support of Rachel Khanna for State Representative this November. Rachel is a twenty-year resident of Greenwich who raised four daughters through our school system. She is an entrepreneur, a tri-athlete, and a dedicated public servant.

What most impresses me about Rachel is her visionary plan for CT’s economic growth. Our state, like many in the northeast, faces a labor shortage. There are currently 113,000 job openings. When employers can’t fill jobs, their output declines, and our state’s GDP falls.

Rachel has signed onto the Connecticut Business and Industry Association’s Transform CT Policy Pledge, which offers smart policy solutions to attract and keep workers in CT. She hopes to simplify the process for obtaining occupational licenses, extend the R&D tax credit to small businesses, and offer loan forgiveness to graduates who remain and work in CT for a set period of time.

Rachel also favors eliminating certain taxes such as the estate tax and the gift tax, which generate little in revenue, and drive many of our older and wealthier residents to other states.

I hope you will join the many residents of Greenwich and Stamford who are planning to vote for Rachel Khanna, a representative with a firm plan for our State’s economic growth.

Joseph Kantorski
