The First Congregational Church will hold a Christmas Tree and Wreath Sale. Saturday, Nov. 26 from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. will be the first day of the sale on the front lawn of the First Congregational church located at 108 Sound Beach Ave. On this day, members of the Greenwich High School Freshman Football Team will don red “Santa” hats and unload 500 Christmas trees when they arrive at 8 a.m. directly from New Hampshire.

The net proceeds from the sale of 500 fresh cut New Hampshire Fraser Fir and Balsam Fir trees, along with 150 decorated and undecorated wreaths, will benefit Kids in Crisis, Meals on Wheels, Pacific House, BackCountry Jazz, Neighbors Link, and Young Mariners Academy (SoundWaters).

In recent years, the sale has grown into a real community event, with more than 100 volunteers of all ages – including church members, ambassadors from all the benefiting charities, and students from the Greenwich public and private schools.

“The really special thing about our tree sale is that when you buy a fresh-cut Christmas tree, beautiful wreath or white pine roping for your family, is also a gift that keeps on giving to those in need, long after the holidays are over. None of the profits go to the church; it all goes to support the programs of our charity partners,” said Tamara Ng-Yow, Outreach Chairperson.

Another special feature of the sale is free delivery upon request. The sale will be held Saturdays and Sundays, beginning Nov. 26 through Dec. 11, or until all trees are sold out.
