Chamber Players Welcome Spring with Concert

The Chamber Players of the Greenwich Symphony herald spring with “Sound the Trumpet” – a pair of concerts on April 10 and 11 featuring trumpeter guest artist Wayne DuWayne. Sunday’s concert is at 4 p.m. at the Round Hill Community Church, 395 Round Hill Road; Monday’s concert is at 7:30 p.m. at the Bruce Museum.

The music will provide plenty of variety through Baroque to Classical to 20th century. Programmed are the Concerto in D major for Trumpet, Strings and Continuo, by Johann Friedrich Fasch, followed by the Piano Trio No.38 in D major by Haydn. Then into the 20th century with Contrasts for Clarinet, Violin.and Piano by Bartók; Poulenc’s Sonata for Clarinet and Bassoon; Someone to Watch Over Me, and Summertime – two Gershwin songs arranged by DuMayne for trumpet and piano; and a jazzy and humorous piece, La Revue de Cuisine by Martinů.
